Signee Profile: LaTrell Bumphus
Tennessee lands a versatile defensive end in LaTrell Bumphus, an in-state player who could stick at defensive end or play tight end for the Vols.

Biography
LaTrell Bumphus is from Hardin County High School in Savannah, Tennessee. At around 6 feet 3 inches and 242 pounds, Bumphus is a defensive end who has been committed to Tennessee since June 18, 2016. Although Bumphus played end for Hardin County, his athletic ability would also give the Vols the option to line him up at tight end.

Offers
Crosby received offers from 17 schools. Among those were Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, Texas A&M, USC and Vanderbilt. Virginia and Virginia Tech were the main schools Tennessee had to beat out for Crosby’s commitment.
Film Review
Bumphus has fantastic athleticism for a defensive lineman his size. In high school, he was also a threat on offense, often lining up at tight end. With Bumphus’ great frame and versatility, Tennessee will be able to line him up at defensive end, slide him inside to tackle, or even get him some playing time at tight end.
With the Vols’ lack of defensive lineman, Bumphus will likely begin his career at defensive end. Regardless of the position, Bumphus has the ability to be a key player for Tennessee over the next three-to-four years.
