Biography

Terrell Bailey is a 3-star cornerback from John Ehret High School in Marrero, Louisiana. His impressive size and ball skills will likely allow him to see the field early once he sets foot on Rocky Top. Vols fans may not know his name now, but a player of his athleticism will make his name known across the SEC in the near future.

Rankings

247Sports: No. 47 CB and No. 471 overall player in the class of 2017

Rivals: No. 28 CB in the class of 2017

ESPN: No. 55 CB in the class of 2017

Offers

Bailey received 19 offers from schools across the nation, including offers from Arkansas, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt from the SEC. Other notable offers included Arizona, Houston, Nebraska, North Carolina and Virginia Tech. Although it was believed that Bailey was leaning toward committing to Kevin Sumlin’s staff at Texas A&M, Bailey surprisingly announced Thursday that Tennessee was his school of choice.

Film Review

Bailey’s 6-foot-tall, 175-pound frame gives him excellent size for a cornerback. What he does with that size is most impressive. Wherever the ball is, so is Terrell Bailey. The Louisiana native has the ability to jump passes well out of range and break up sure touchdowns. Perhaps his most impressive attribute is his ability to tackle in space. If the opposing team’s ball-carrier is able to get into the defensive backfield, Bailey rushes to the ball with explosive speed and cleans up the play.

When Bailey arrives in Knoxville, Tennessee in 2017, Volunteer fans might notice a striking similarity to sophomore defensive back Micah Abernathy in size, as well as ball-hawking ability. Cam Sutton will be gone after this season, and it looks like Terrell Bailey could be poised to fill the gap.
