Tariq Owens asks for his release from the University of Tennessee.
Tennessee freshman Tariq Owens has officially asked for his release after meeting today with new head coach Rick Barnes.
Multiple sources earlier in the week were reporting that Owens was mulling his options but hadn’t come to a decision until this afternoon. The 6’10 freshman averaged only 1.2 points and 1.1 rebounds last season but showed spurts of athleticism in his first collegiate year, and many say that they like his upside.
