Offers

Byrd had SEC offers from Ole Miss, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee. Some of his most notable offers came from Notre Dame and USC. He was committed to Miami for nearly a full year, and most had thought his recruitment was all but over until Tennessee’s late surge.

Film review

A skill that stands out in Byrd’s tape is the underrated ability to quickly shed off receiver’s blocks to make tackles. When defending the pass, he is aggressive in the secondary without resorting to illegal contact, one of the most important skills a defensive back can have. He’s instinctive when defending the pass and has the natural athleticism necessary for cornerbacks in the SEC. Tennessee is getting a Signing Day gem in Byrd.
