Who to add

  • Darren McFadden, RB, Dallas – McFadden is showing improvement week-by-week as he continues to gel with his new team in Dallas. Proving to be a threat both on the ground and as a pass-catcher, McFadden could provide a valuable boost to your team, especially if you lost a running back due to injury this past week.
  • Vernon Davis, TE, Denver – Acquired Monday just before the trade deadline, Davis has the potential to rejuvenate his career in Denver. Peyton Manning had relied heavily on the output of Julius Thomas before his departure in the offseason, so he must be ecstatic to have a real pass-catching threat at the tight end position again.
  • Derek Carr, QB, Oakland – Surprisingly, Carr is only owned in 35.4 percent of ESPN fantasy leagues, so there’s a good chance you could snatch him before people realize his potential. Carr is averaging over 17 fantasy points per game on the season, and 26 fantasy points per game in the past two weeks. In the first eight weeks of the season, Carr has thrown 15 touchdowns and only three interceptions. Grab this young talent while you can.

Who to drop

  • Le’Veon Bell, RB, Pittsburgh – If you haven’t heard the news by now, Le’Veon Bell suffered a torn MCL in Sunday’s game and will be out for the season. While he may have been your first round choice back on draft day, he won’t be producing anymore. It’s alright to cry, but it’s time to move on.
  • Colin Kaepernick, QB, San Francisco – If you’ve been starting Kaepernick these past couple of weeks, you know he’s struggling. The 49ers just announced these struggles have earned him a spot on the bench and Blaine Gabbert will get the start. If you’re desperate for a quarterback, Kaepernick can’t help you anymore.
  • Steve Smith Sr., WR, Baltimore – This is another player you need to drop due to injury. Smith was No. 11 overall in fantasy scoring among wide receivers, but because of his torn Achilles tendon will no longer be an asset on any fantasy team.

Who to start

  • Eli Manning, QB, New York Giants – Eli put up an electric performance in New Orleans when he threw for six touchdowns and no picks. Don’t expect quite that level of production, but expect him to continue his great play against a weak Tampa Bay defense this week.
  • Peyton Manning, QB, Denver – Expect Peyton to torch the 28th-ranked pass defense in the league as he travels to Indianapolis to face his old team. Manning looked sharp against a stellar Packers defense; expect more of the same this week.
  • Vernon Davis, TE, Denver – Vernon Davis will make a splash instantly in his debut in Denver and will provide valuable points for the rest of the season with Manning as his new quarterback.

Who to sit

  • Cam Newton, QB, Carolina – Although he’s in early MVP talks this season, don’t expect Newton to have outstanding numbers as he will take on the stingy Packers defense this week.
  • Andrew Luck, QB, Indianapolis – Luck is having a sub-par season by his standards, and with the recent firing of his offensive coordinator, Pep Hamilton, things could improve or get much worse in Indianapolis. Bench Luck this week to be safe.
  • Aaron Rodgers, QB, Green Bay – Rodgers had the worst performance of his career against Denver in week eight, posting a meager 77 yards and no touchdowns. While he’s likely to have a better performance than that, don’t expect too much against Carolina’s explosive defense.
