Beauty Blog: 3 makeup must-haves for warm weather
In this week’s TNJN Beauty Blog, Somayea goes over three things your makeup needs to include so you have radiate skin even during the warm weather season.
It’s April and with that comes the warm weather, sun and of course the oily production within our skins.
I have combination skin type, which means that some parts of my face (usually the t-zone, which is considered the forehead, nose and chin.) while other places such as my cheeks are normal, or even dry. Regardless, every time warm and humid weather comes along so does the oils on my face, and probably yours too.
Oily or combination skin types are not the end all or be all, but the oils on your skin break down the base makeup you have which means more touch ups which may make your face appear caked on with makeup. No one has time for that!
Don’t worry if you have problems with oily skin because here are my three picks to keep shine at bay!
These primers were designed to help shine be minimized as much as possible which equals to your makeup being prolonged.
Another step into keeping your face as shine free is using a foundation that is formulated to be a matte finish (there is no shine or dewy look). I have the L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte. Another drugstore option is the Rimmel London Stay Matte Foundation. A matte foundation not only helps to keep the shine at bay, but by doing so it helps to extend the wear of your foundation. Since the oils won’t have a chance to break down your foundation, you don’t have to worry about touch ups.
I will give you a word of caution. Matte foundations have a tendency to make your face less skin like and more “made up”. This means it is noticeable that you are wearing foundation. If you want to avoid that for everyday wear, then feel free to mix your matte foundation with your favorite moisturizer to create a tinted moisturizer that suits your skin type!
The last on the list is a makeup setting spray. This is the L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Makeup Extender Setting Spray. You may have never heard one of these before if you don’t venture much into the world of makeup.
A makeup setting spray, is what it sounds like. It sets your makeup. This means that it can extend the wear of your makeup, but they are also great dialing down the look of powder. These are great if you feel like you may have gone a little overboard with the powder. You spritz it on your face after you’ve applied powder and it helps to make it less caked on. However you can use this without using a powder prior, and just spritz it on after you’ve finished your foundation, and concealer and blush.
This particular setting spray helps to keep your face shine free, since it has a matte finish.
I hope this helps.
