Beauty Blog: Create a stunning Valentine’s Day look
Love is in the air because Valentine’s Day is almost here. I’ll be showing a quick and easy way to get a colorful, yet date night appropriate look.
Love is in the air because Valentine’s Day is almost here.
I’ll be showing a quick and easy way to get a colorful, yet date night appropriate look. You’ll need a few things, and some you may have lurking around. Most of these are drugstore items, so don’t worry about breaking the bank.
Start out with a primed eyelid. When you prime your eyes, it’ll allow for the shadow to stay on longer and intensify the longevity of what you put on top. A good drugstore option is the Milani Eye Primer.
Next take a eyeshadow a shade or two darker than your own skintone, and blend it into the crease. Go back and forth into your crease to give it some depth and dimension. Here I’m using a deluxe crease brush from the Real Technique’s Starter set. However a great alternative if you don’t want to buy the entire kit is the ELF Studio Blending Brush which is $3.
After that I will be using a flat eyeshadow brush (ELF Essential Eyeshadow Brush works) from this NYC HD Trio in Urban Spice. I’ll be taking that peachy pink color and applying it to the lid area.
Tip: Don’t go above the crease area, you want to keep it concentrated on the lid that way it doesn’t become one glittery mess. With the same blending brush from before, make sure you blend out the base shadow. This way the two blends into each other seamlessly, and there are no stark lines.
If you’ve seen this before, then you’ve probably checked out my Easy Winged Liner tutorial. This will help us create a nice, crisp line.
Next I took a purple eyeliner (the one I’m using is Sephora Contour Eyeliner in Purple Stilettos; $10). You can use the NYX Slide on Pencil in Purple Blaze. Line your eyes like you would regularly would, and try to keep it at a medium thickness.
This looks complicated but I promise it’s not! Take your pencil and using the tape as a guide, create a line downwards. This will be our wing. The tape helps to smooth out the lines and gives you a barrier so you don’t accidentally go outside and create a thick uneven line.
Next I took a liquid liner (Jordana Cat Eye liquid Eyeliner in Suede and I went over the purple liner, to give it more intensity and some drama. You can go thicker with the liner at this point, if you feel like the eyeliner isn’t suiting your taste.
Add some mascara and you’re done! I told you it was a easy look.
I hope you have a great time on Valentine’s Day whether it’s out with someone special or just with some friends, or even better, with your true love Netflix. Rock this look regardless of what you’re doing.
