VolleyVols swept by Texas A&M in College Station
Tennessee had opportunities in the first two sets, but the Aggies ended up sending the Vols home with a straight-set defeat on Sunday.
It was a disappointing trip to College Station for the Tennessee volleyball team.
The Vols (15-10, 5-7 SEC) were swept by Texas A&M in three sets on Sunday afternoon. The first two sets were tight, but the Aggies (16-7, 10-2 SEC) dominated the final set to win the match in straight sets.
The Vols found themselves down big to start the match, but managed to take a late 21-18 lead in the opening set. However, the Aggies responded and eventually won the first set, 26-24.
Tennessee again found itself down in the second set, but replicated its performance in the first set and took the lead. However, Texas A&M didn’t allow the Vols to hold the lead for long, as the Aggies comfortably grabbed a commanding 2-0 lead, 25-20.
Texas A&M didn’t allow the narrative of the first two sets to come to fruition, as the Aggies dominated from the start and completed their sweep with a resounding 25-15 victory.
Freshman setter Sedona Hansen had a double-double on the afternoon, while freshman Tessa Grubbs led the team in kills (14) for the 15th time this season.
Tennessee travels to Oxford to take on the Ole Miss Rebels this Friday.
