Broadway Studios and Gallery opened its doors to the public for the opening of their new exhibit, Peep Show, on Friday, March 4.

Peep Show is an open call art show featuring work depicting the human figure from local artists in the Knoxville area. Parental discretion is advised due to the revealing content.

The opening included food and beverages along with the 1 Dancer’s who performed belly dancing. Cal Lampkin provided live DJ music as the soundtrack for the evening.

The featured art included oil paintings, drawing and sculptures. Along with viewing the art, guests were able to see the ten artists who used the building as their own personal gallery.

Amateur photographer and viewer of the show, Ellen Cook, said that she enjoyed Peep Show because of its “warm and intimate atmosphere.”

“It’s a great way to meet new people,” Cook said.

Several artists submitted artwork into the show including local artist Audrey Saunders. She has been painting for several years and her oil painting entitled “Andy” was featured in Peep Show.

Saunders said she was inspired to be a part of the show because of her fascination with the human body.

“The human figure really intrigues me, particularly old faces,” she said. “By using them for art you’re almost in a way immortalizing them.”

Peep Show will run until March 27. For more information about Broadway Studios and Gallery, visit their official website, their Facebook and their Twitter pages.
