Beauty Blog: Organizing your makeup

Hello and welcome back to the beauty blog.

A new year means new resolutions. If one of your resolutions is to be more organized, then look no further than this post. Well, at least for makeup that is. This is a system that I have used since freshman year of college, and have adjusted over the semesters. It’s a fairly inexpensive way of keeping your makeup stored while you’re at college. This is great for apartments and dorms because it doesn’t use up a lot of space.

As you can see in the photo everything has a place. I store most of my makeup in the three drawer compartment. This can be found in stores such as Walmart, Target and Big Lots. You can decorate it with some cute scrap-booking paper or stickers if you find it too simple for your taste. I recommend getting a mirror because it is useful even if you live in Clement where there is that one full length mirror attached to the bathroom door.

Let’s start with what’s on top of the drawer:

Here I keep things that can’t really fit in the drawer due to their size or the amount of items that are in each drawer. Here I keep my foundation (Revlon Nearly Naked), my translucent powder (Ben NYE Translucent Powder), one of my face primer (Rimmel Fix and Perfect PRO), a setting spray (ELF Mist and Set) and my LORAC PRO Palette. This is also a great place for keeping products that you use on daily basis, such as your foundation, concealer and etc. for easy access. I also keep my eyelash curler here (not pictured) because it’s too big to fit in the drawer.

Next is a sneak peek of what’s in my first drawer:

This is where most of my face makeup lies such as primer, blush or concealer. You can see most of the products in here are compact and slim. Depending on how much you use, you may fill it up like how I have done or not have a lot much at all. Either way, try to pack products together. I have stacked several of my powder blushes in order save some space, and used the shapes of the packaging to my advantage.

The second drawer opens up:

This is where I keep my eye products. I keep my smaller eyeshadow palettes and single eyeshadows in here. I also have my mascara and some primers here. You can also keep eyeliner in here, but I had too many eyeshadows and it’d become cluttered up if I put my eyeliners in here.

The last drawer showcases:

My eyeliners! Also I have some of my false lashes in here as well as the eyelash glue. I have a eye brow product which technically shouldn’t be in here. I have an creme eyeshadow base (Jordana 12 HR Made to Last Eyeshadow Pencil in Continuous Almond).

If you’re wondering where I keep my lip products, then look no further!

Since I have so many lip products I used a slender plastic bin that I got at the Dollar Tree for $1 (it is a stack of 3 for $1). Again, if you don’t have as many you can just place them into the last drawer of the compartment instead of having a bin for it.

I keep my makeup brushes in little colorful tins. I found these at the dollar section within Target (it’s the first thing you see when you walk in) for $1 each. They have different patterns and colors depending on the time of year (ex. Halloween themed ones for October). I separated mine into either face brushes or eye brushes. This makes it a lot easier to grab what you need instead of scavenging to find what you need in single cup (I’d know because I did that freshman year). However, once again if you don’t own that many brushes (in which case you should check out my guide to brushes here x) then you can use on little tin bucket instead of two.
