Beauty Blog: Halloween transformation

I hope everyone had a happy Halloween. For this week, I did this make-up transformation on Arts and Culture Editor and my good friend Jessica who went as Vanellope from Wreck It Ralph for the Trunk-or-Treat this past Tuesday.

If you want to recreate this easy look, here’s what you have to do:

1. Eyes- I used the tiniest bit of shadow on her eyes. A skin tone color and a brown shadow slightly darker than your own skin tone will work. Sweep the skin tone color all over the eyelid and then place the darker color on the crease. You want the slightest definition.

Next, I used the easy liner trick (which you can find here) and first placed some black shadow using a angled eyeliner brush so I could see what I was doing. I really pushed the color into the lashline to make her eyelashes look bigger since we didn’t use any false lashes. I applied the liquid liner, Wet n Wild Megaliner for reference and then she curled her own lashes and applied mascara.

2. Brows- This is a big part of Vanellope’s look. Her brows are black and thick, and she has two hairs sticking out on the front end of her brows. I tried recreating it using the same black eyeshadow and brush that I used on her eyes. I took some shadow, tapped any exccess, and then made a mark on the front end of her brows, so it’s a straight line. Then I slightly overdrew Jessica’s brows to make them look thicker. I filled them in.

For the little flick at the front, I just took whatever was leftover and flicked it upwards until it looked like 1-2 of her eyebrow hair was sticking out.

3. Cheeks-Like her brows, Vanellope’s cheeks are very much a part of her character. She has bright red cheeks and a reddish nose. I didn’t own a red blush, so I used the closest thing I had which was a coral color. I took a blush brush and loaded it with the product. Then I tapped it onto the apple of the cheeks, to create that cute, innocent look. Whatever was left over I applied it onto her nose.

I sprayed her face with ELF Mist and Set setting spray to hold her makeup.
