MEDIC Regional Blood Center is asking its patients to “Give for Pat” as they partner with The Pat Summitt Foundation in their battle against Alzheimer’s on Monday, Jan. 30 to Friday, Feb. 3.

For each blood donation, a $10 monetary donation will be made to The Pat Summitt Foundation, thanks in part to Alumni Hall. All donors will receive a free T-shirt, a free Appetizer from Texas Roadhouse, a free cinnamon biscuit from Bojangles and a coupon for the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame.

MEDIC will be in multiple locations throughout Knoxville, including UT’s campus, in order to make donations more convenient. On-campus donations will be taken throughout the week at the following locations: College of Law Building Area Commons; Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) Building, Hess Residence Hall; Hollingsworth Auditorium; the Pedestrian Bridge; and South Carrick Residence Hall.

Specific dates and times for each location can be found on the Campus Events page. For building locations, visit this map.

Students can expect to spend an hour and fifteen minutes giving blood, assuming lines are moving quickly. The actual blood donation is a brief process, taking less than 15 minutes. Additional time is accrued throughout the mini-physical and vitals check to determine donor eligibility. Donations will go to one of the 29 area hospitals that MEDIC sponsors.

All proceeds raised by the event will go to the Pat Summitt Foundation to help find a cure for Alzheimer’s Disease.
