Senior Kevin Punter will miss remainder of season
Tennessee basketball’s top scorer will undergo season-ending foot surgery, according to head coach Rick Barnes.

Senior guard Kevin Punter will miss the remainder of the season after missing the last four games due to a broken foot.
Head coach Rick Barnes announced Friday that Punter would undergo season-ending surgery to repair a stress fracture in his right foot.
This announcement comes one day prior to senior day at Thompson-Boling Arena, in the Volunteers’ final game of the regular season against Ole Miss.
This season, Punter averaged 22.2 points per game, currently the second-highest average in the SEC and 11th in the NCAA. According to the Associated Press, this is the highest single-season scoring performance of any men’s basketball player since Allan Houston (22.3 points per game) in 1992-1993.
Punter transferred to Tennessee in 2014 after attending State Fair Community College in Sedalia, Missouri. In his first season with the Volunteers, he was third on the team in scoring with over 10 points per game.
This season, Punter exploded onto the college basketball scene for a great senior campaign.
The decision to undergo season-ending surgery unfortunately marks the end of Punter’s college career and time at the University of Tennessee.
