The Art and Architecture Building will be holding an Open House to meet and interact with prospective students Saturday, Sept. 20, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Open House is being held to coincide with the Undergraduate Admissions Open House program “Big Orange Preview.”
The Open House gives upcoming freshmen the opportunity to see the building, meet professors and current students and get a general overview of the college. The Open House will spotlight other areas that may be of interest to prospective students, including study abroad, digital fabrication and service learning. The event will also feature some of the new digital technologies in the building.
Julie Beckman, the director of Student Services and adjunct professor with the College of Architecture and Design, spoke about some of the new additions to the building.
“We have $2.5 million worth of new equipment and furniture in our building,” Beckman said. “So, all the studio desks have been completely replaced. Each desk comes with a 27-inch monitor, so these students will have a place to work 24 hours a day, 365 days year.”
More information can be found on the event calendar on the UT website.
