Tennessee gains three commits from of Memphis
Tennessee’s linebacking corps looks to be set for years to come with the commitments of highly ranked linebackers Bryson Eason, Martavius French and Tamarion McDonald.
Tuesday night the Tennessee Volunteers scored three Memphis commits.
The Volunteers added four-star linebackers Bryson Eason and Martavius French, along with three-star linebacker and athlete Tamarion McDonald late Tuesday night.
The three prospects from Memphis’ Whitehaven high school announced their commitment to the University of Tennessee via Twitter.
With this addition, the Tennessee Volunteers now stand at No. 19 overall in the class of 2020 rankings.
French, listed at 6-foot-3, 235-pounds according to rivals.com, was the first to commit to the University out of his teammates. He is ranked at No. 180 overall, No.10 at inside linebacker and No. 6 among Tennessee prospects.
Eason, the 6-foot-2, 230 pound prospect, is ranked at No. 182 overall, No. 11 at inside linebacker and No. 7 in the state.
McDonald, the third linebacker and athlete from Whitehaven, who is listed at 6-foot-2, 215 pounds is ranked No. 28 at outside linebacker and No. 13 in Tennessee.
After coming off of an official visit to Arkansas, the three prospects took official visits to Tennessee together as a group the weekend of Oct. 5, according to 247sports.com.
The three prospects had many offers from other big schools such as both French and Eason getting offered from Florida, Cincinnati and Arkansas. McDonald was also offered by Arkansas and Cincinnati as well as LSU, Indiana and Kentucky to name a few.
Two of the three prospects had been previously committed with Martavius French verbally committed to Arkansas and Tamarion McDonald to Mississippi State.
“It feels like a family, and I feel like I could trust the coaches,” McDonald said according to 247sports. “They’re real genuine, so I just felt like I should go on and do it.”
The three new additions will now leave Tennessee with eight in-state commitments in the 2020 class, with seven players being in the in-state top 30 and three players ranked in the in-state top ten.
