Former Tennessee Volunteer running back Arian Foster has been released by the Houston Texans after seven seasons with the franchise.

Former Tennessee Volunteer running back Arian Foster has been released from the Houston Texans.
After graduating from Tennessee, Foster went undrafted to the Houston Texans in 2009.
Foster is the Texans’ franchise leader in rushing yards (6,472) and rushing touchdowns (54).
During his seven-year tenure with the franchise, Foster was a four-time Pro Bowler, one-time First-Team All-Pro selection, and led the NFL in rushing touchdowns in 2010 and 2012.
Unfortunately, the past few seasons of his career have been plagued with injuries. Foster missed 23 games over the last three seasons due to Achilles, back, and groin injuries.
When Foster left the University of Tennessee, he finished as the second all-time leading rusher with 2,964 yards and third in career all-purpose yards with 3,880.
However, his time at Tennessee has been tainted by his infamous untimely fumbles as a Volunteer and his outspokenness against amateurism in college athletics.
In 2013, Foster revealed in a documentary that he was receiving money on the side during his senior year at Tennessee.
In the documentary, Foster spoke out against the injustice in being a student-athlete and struggling for food.
Foster’s release from the Texans, who heads into the offseason in rebuilding mode on offense, will save the franchise around $6.6 million.
Despite the controversy surrounding his legacy as a Volunteer, his rise to stardom from an undrafted free agent to NFL leading rusher has made him one of the Volunteers’ most successful professional players.
