Offensive Matchup: Vol wide receivers take on Wildcat secondary

One of the most important things to watch in today’s matchup between the Tennessee Volunteers (4-5) and the Kentucky Wildcats (5-5) is how well Tennessee’s receivers can exploit Kentucky’s secondary.

In a battle between two teams that are fighting for bowl eligibility for the first time since 2010, this matchup could very well be the difference.

Kentucky’s defense as a whole has struggled this year, but the secondary has been downright awful especially last week. Georgia’s Hutson Mason threw a career high four touchdown passes and Georgia as a team went 18 for 21 for 254 yards and five touchdowns.

Since Joshua Dobbs entered as Tennessee’s starting quarterback the offense has been explosive. Coming off the bye week and a 300 yard passing game Dobbs will need to use his weapons to exploit the Wildcat’s weakness.

Pig Howard and company should be able to find holes during the game. The Volunteer’s offensive line has also improved since Dobbs has been starting. If the Volunteer’s passing game is clicking, they should have no problem winning this game.
