Quarterback Josh Dobbs was responsible for four touchdowns during Tennessee’s blowout victory against Kentucky, therefore it is no surprise he has earned player of the game honors.

Dobbs went 16-of-26 for 233 yards and two touchdown passes. This included a 75-yard bomb to Josh Malone that allowed Tennessee to gain and keep the lead for good late in the second quarter. Also, Dobbs rushed for 51 yards and two scores, allowing Tennessee to keep its streak rolling.

The Vols have beaten Kentucky in 30 of the last 31 meetings between the two teams.

There has been some doubt as to whether Dobbs can throw the deep ball. With the 75-yard connection to Malone, he silenced a lot of those doubters.

After trouncing Kentucky and giving Alabama a run for the first time in years, it looks as if Tennessee football is finally taking stride. It is looking more and more likely that Tennessee will win out against the remainder of its opponents.

Throughout the next few weeks, the Vols face South Carolina, North Texas, Missouri and Vanderbilt. This would explain why ESPN’s Power Football Index ranked Tennessee as the Power Five team to win out the remainder of their season.

No more losses in the regular season would leave Tennessee with an 8-4 record, something UT hasn’t seen in quite some time.

The Vols scored eight straight times in a span where they possessed the ball between the first and fourth quarters. At one point in the third, Tennessee scored four consecutive times on four touches. Jalen Hurd also scored on a drive that took nine snaps to get into the endzone. Tennessee looked to be as efficient as it has been all season.

Evan Berry scored on a 100-yard kickoff return, giving him three touchdowns on kickoff returns this year. This allowed him to tie a 35-year-old school record held by Willie Gault.

With the help of his teammates, Dobbs has proven time and time again that he has what it takes to move the ball against elite defenses. Look for him to take the Volunteers to a bowl game this year as they attempt to end their season on a five-game win streak.
