Gallery: Buddhist monks work on sand mandala

This gallery captures the Buddhist monks working on the sand mandala painting at the McClung Museum.

All four monks are focused on the mandala.

The monks work with very little noise in such a way the painting becomes a meditative state.

The monk empties excess sand from his chakpur so he can work on a different piece.

A monk refills his chakpur with green sand so he can work on the interior of the mandala.

All four monks are focused on the mandala.

The mandala is nearly complete and on Friday it will be washed away.

Although he is dual majoring in neuroscience and psychology, sophomore Thomas Delgado has found a passion for photojournalism after only a semester behind the lens.
