With the holiday season in full swing, Knoxville natives have a plethora of activities to look forward to this December.
Knoxville’s most anticipated holiday festival, Christmas in the City, will bring joy to every member of the family. This festival runs throughout the entire month of December, providing spectators with a beautiful scenery of tighter trees throughout the Chilhowee Park. Self driving tours are also available each night from 5-9 p.m. In addition, Christmas in the City is hosting a special night on Dec. 12, with family friendly activities including face painting for the kids, hot chocolate provided by the Salvation Army, marshmallow roasting, pictures with Santa and a free train ride around the park.
If your family and friends are more into winter-time physical activity, then the Holiday’s on Ice is where you’ll want to go this season. Presented by Home Federal Bank, this ice skating rink is located in the middle of Market Square and is open everyday, regardless of weather conditions. Admission, which includes the cost of skates, is $ 7 for children under 12 and $10 for the rest of the public. This open-air ice rink will be open from Nov. 28 to Jan. 4.
One of Knoxville’s favorite holiday activities, the WIVK Christmas Parade, is also great for family and friends. Taking place on Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. on Gay Street, the parade offers floats, decorated vehicles of all kind, dancers and marching bands. A very special appearance by Santa Clause will be sure to have the kids of the group in utter excitement.
