Postmodern Jukebox rock the Bijou

Scott Bradlee & Postmodern Jukebox performed at the Bijou Theatre on Tuesday, Oct. 28.

On Tuesday night, Scott Bradlee & Postmodern Jukebox performed at the Bijou Theatre. Their set consisted of popular songs including “Call Me Maybe,” “Womanizer,” “We Can’t Stop” and “Fancy,” as well as many others. The band featured a few different singers including main vocalist Robyn Adele Anderson, as well as Cristina Gatti, Ashley Stroud and Von Smith.

Postmodern Jukebox is a cover band with a twist. They play pop songs, but with an added vintage sound.

Molly Collins, a freshman at UT and first time listener of Postmodern Jukebox loved the sound of the group.

“I absolutely loved it. I honestly didn’t know what to expect coming in, but that was the best ten dollars I’ve ever spent.”

Margaux Joe, Vice-Chair of the Cultural Attractions Committee loved when the group performed “Shake It Off.”

“This was actually more than I expected,” said Joe. “It was an incredible show.”

Adam Kubota, bassist for Postmodern Jukebox, loved the crowd’s energy.

“I thought we had a great show tonight,” said Kubota. “Yeah, it was really fun. [People] were really welcoming to us and were really happy, and in fact we had a meet and greet before the show and people brought gifts, which we’re not used to that.”

Kubota comments on how his experience has helped him work with really talented people.

“Personally, I didn’t [expect us to get this big], but I always saw that Scott was working with really talented people, and he always works with really fantastic singers,” said Kubota. “They like his stuff because he knows all the pop songs, he can play any Broadway hit, so we had really high-level people always kind of hanging around, and then finally I think he put it all together and made it in a package that was very successful for people, for the wider audience of YouTube.”
