Cult film actor promotes new book, discusses career
Tommy Wiseau’s cult film, The Room, is often referred to as the best, bad movie ever made. It is film filled with plot holes, bad green screens and dialogue filled with broken English, but despite all of these apparent flaws, or more accurately, because of these flaws, it has developed a committed fan base, which often holds loud eccentric showings that involve costumes, footballs and throwing silverware.
Greg Sestero, most known for playing the character Mark in The Room came and spoke to UT students on April 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the UC auditorium as a part of the promotion tour for this newly released book. He discussed his book, read segments from it and presented copies of the movie’s original script. The event was sponsored by UT’s Cultural Attractions Committee.
Sestero recently released a book, which he wrote in conjunction with journalist Tom Bissell. This memoir, The Disaster Artist, tells what it was like to work with eccentric actor/director Tommy Wiseau and the process leading up to the release of the movie.
According to Sestero, James Franco and Seth Rogan recently purchased the rights to transform The Disaster Artist into a feature length film.
