This Valentine’s Day is a day for everyone to celebrate with many events going on in the Knoxville area.
Just because you may not be in a relationship does not mean you have to sit out on Valentine’s Day celebrations. This Feb. 14, Knoxville has some out of the box ideas for spending this holiday.
Love is love photo booth will be held on Pedestrian Walkway from 10a.m.-2 p.m. OUTreach: LGBT and Ally Resource Center will be hosting this free event and will also be giving away candy, condoms and Valentine’s cards. A second photo booth will be set up at the OUTreach Center in Melrose Hall from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
UT will also be having Single Night, in the University Center Down Under Recreation from 5:30-8:30 p.m. It is a chance to mix and mingle with friends and other singles. Unlimited bowling and shoe rental will only be $2 for students with a valid UT ID.
Tin Roof on Cumberland Avenue will be having its annual Stop Light Party in honor of Valentine’s Day. Participants should wear red if in a relationship, yellow if it’s complicated and green for single. The party starts at 10:30 p.m. , free cover charge and a local Knoxville band; Ocean Street will be playing all night. The event is 21 and up.
“I went last year with a group of my friends and it was such a good time,” said UT senior Kirby Sprewell, referring to the Stop Light Party.
The movies are also a great way to spend a Friday night. The Regal Theater on Gay Street has student discounts on films with a UT ID. Many new movies are coming out just in time for Valentine’s Day including, About Last Night, Endless Love and Winter’s Tale.
If staying inside to avoid the cold is something of interest, Papa Johns is having a special through Friday of a large, heart shaped, one topping pizza and a cinnapie for only $15.
These are just a few of the ways people in Knoxville can spend Valentine’s Day in an inexpensive fun way.
