At the University of Tennessee Science Forum on Friday, Sept. 26, assistant professor of nutrition Sarah Colby shared her plan to combat obesity on college campuses and promote healthier behaviors among college students through a project called “Get Fruved.”

Peng Xiong, a physics professor at Florida State University, visited Knoxville for the first time and was the first speaker in a semester-long colloquium series created by the Physics Department. Xiong spoke to the community about his research in superconductivity, specifically talking about lead as a superconductor. Student Ryan Raul was excited to attend the lecture because his major lines up with Xiong’s research.
The series will continue Sept. 22 with guest speaker Randy Fishman.
For the past two years, a small laboratory rover has been digging, sifting, and inspecting the surface of Mars in an attempt to understand what it would have been like to walk on the planet 3.5 billion years ago.
UT’s Student Government Association held its first meeting on Tuesday, August 26, in the University Center’s Shiloh Room. During the meeting, senate leaders brought up changes and upcoming events, while also swearing in 14 new senators.
