J.J. Peterson arrives on campus for Vols
At long last, Tennessee’s top recruit in the 2018 football class has arrived on campus.
Tennessee’s top football recruit from the 2018 class, J.J. Peterson, arrived on campus this weekend. Jeremy Pruitt now has his first full recruiting class at his disposal.
Peterson ranked in the top 50 prospects, according to 247Sports, and ranked third among all outside linebackers in the country. He had a long list of offers, including Georgia, Alabama, Auburn and Clemson, but the Georgia native chose Knoxville, Tenn., as his new home.
His first practice was Monday, but he did not wear pads. He will get a total of five practices under his belt before practicing in full pads.
With Peterson arriving so late, it may take more time for him to gel with the rest of the team. Pruitt will need to acclimate him to the new Tennessee defense before Peterson can make an impact on the field.
It might take time for Peterson to become a household name on this football team, but Vols fans will likely still be excited to see how Peterson progresses in practice. There will be high expectations from the start, and the next couple of weeks will tell if Peterson is up to the challenge.
