Tennessee volleyball falls to No. 4 Florida
Tennessee volleyball fell to No. 4 Florida on Sunday afternoon in three sets.
The Vols fought hard against the Gators (20-1, 12-1 SEC) with back-and-fourth game points, but couldn’t maintain a lead, as they fell to Florida on Sunday afternoon in Thompson-Boling Arena.
Tennessee (11-11, 4-9 SEC) attempted a comeback in the third set, coming back from a 12-5 deficit. The Vols caught up after a five point run tying the set 15-15. They held their ground against the Gators tying the set two more times before losing it 20-15.
The Vols started the first set strong with 10 game ties and 10 kills as a team, but failed to take control of a lead losing the set 25-23.
Tennessee struggled in the second set, allowing Florida to go on a 6-0 run early in the set. The Vols couldn’t come back, as they would end up losing the set, 25-19.
Erica Treiber led the Vols with nine points, while Breana Jeter added eight points. Brooke Schumacher led the team with 20 digs. Sedona Hansen added 17 digs.
Tennessee will make its final road trip of the season this week, as they travel to the state of Alabama for its next two SEC games. On Thursday night, the Lady Vols will play Auburn at 8 p.m. ET. On Sunday, Tennessee will travel to Tuscaloosa to face the Crimson Tide at 2 p.m. ET.
Following the road trip, Tennessee will finish the regular season out with three home games against Ole Miss, Georgia and LSU.
