Biography
Brandon Johnson (Class of 2016) is a wide receiver from Plantation, Florida and is currently attending American Heritage high school. Johnson is a 6’3″, 180-pound red zone touchdown machine. Johnson lacks the straight-line speed to be a true downfield threat at the collegiate level, but he does have savvy route running and good hands to be a true red zone threat for the Vols.

Offers
Johnson’s impressive offer list included 22 schools and several SEC programs. Arkansas, Georgia, South Carolina, LSU, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss all offered the receiver. Johnson also held offers from Wisconsin, Miami and Clemson. He has been committed to Tennessee since Jan. 16.
Film Review
As aforementioned, Johnson does most of his heavy lifting in the red zone. He lacks the speed to create yards after the catch at the next level, but he’s an incredibly talented route runner with solid hands. He also has a knack for finding the holes in zone coverage and burning defenses. Although Johnson has great size at 6’3″, he is still rather lean. Once the Volunteers’ strength staff can add a few pounds to his frame, Johnson should be able to become a reliable red zone target that Tennessee has been sorely lacking. Johnson’s route running prowess will help his case to see the field early in his career. Don’t be surprised to see Johnson steal some red zone snaps this fall as Tennessee continues to search for reliable production at the wide receiver position.
