Opinion: ‘Walking Dead’ season 5 premiere better than rest

If you have been keeping up with the Walking Dead, whether you have been watching since day one or if you binge-watched it the week before the season 5 premiere, it is safe to say that season 5 has been highly anticipated by all who follow the series.

If you have been keeping up with the Walking Dead, whether you have been watching since day one or if you binge-watched it the week before the Season 5 premiere, it is safe to say that Season 5 has been highly anticipated by all who follow the series. But before we get to the premiere of the new season, here is a quick recap of season 4.
The beginning of season 4 showed the prison well populated with both Rick’s group and the remaining group from Woodbury after it’s collapse at the end of season 3. Rick had given up his role as leader and things were looking up, but a disease strikes the prison and some key characters were left in bad health. All the while, the Governor was recuperating and rebuilding a new group of his own, with the ultimate goal of taking over the prison and putting an end to Rick and the group.
After the Governor’s crew made their attack on the prison, Rick’s group was now broken up into several groups all hoping that they would stumble upon each other. But there was one thing that was giving each group hope: Terminus. The end of season 4 showed the arrival of most of the remaining main characters, as well as a few new characters we met along the road to Terminus, but Terminus did not appear to be the safe haven they had hoped for.
The action-packed season 5 premiere showed Rick and the gang escape captivity in Terminus, and the survivors of the prison attack were all reunited once again at the end of the episode, and viewers were left with a shocking cliffhanger and teaser for episodes to come.
The final teaser scene at the end of the episode revealed Morgan was following a carved sign on the tree and was presumably headed to Terminus, but saw the “No Santuary” that Rick had scribbled on the Terminus sign and went the other way. Many viewers on the aftershow “The Talking Dead” hosted by Chris Hardwick were wondering where Beth was who wasn’t shown in the premiere episode.
New episodes of the Walking Dead season 5 will continue to come on AMC on Sundays at 9/8c.
