A group of UT students, a faculty member and an alumna are heading to New Jersey this week to work on various special events before and during Super Bowl XLVIII, which will air Sunday, Feb. 2 at 6:30 p.m.
KNOXVILLE MAYOR TO VISIT TURKEY
Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero will be in Turkey from Jan. 27-Feb. 2 to speak about the importance of women in politics, according to WBIR.com.
RELAY FOR LIFE KICKOFF THIS WEEK
Relay For Life of Knoxville-Metro will hold a kickoff rally on Thursday, Jan. 30 at Barley’s Tap Room and Pizzeria beginning at 5:30 p.m. The kickoff will raise awareness for the official Relay For Life event that will be held on June 13 in World’s Fair Park to raise money for the American Cancer Society. ME4UT MARCH MADNESS RECRUITMENT
The Minority Enhancement for the University of Tennessee team is looking for new members this week to promote and foster diversity at UT. Applications are available online and in the Undergraduate Admissions Office, 320 Student Services Building. An info session will be held Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. in the University Center Room 223-224. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, Feb. 12 at noon.
TICKETS ON SALE FOR CHINESE NEW YEAR FESTIVAL
The 2014 East Tennessee Chinese New Year Festival will be held on Sunday, Feb. 2 in the Cox Auditorium of the Alumni Memorial Building from 3:30-5:30 p.m. The annual show will feature a professional acrobat as well as dance, martial arts and musical performances by local groups. Tickets starting at $5 are being sold online now.
