Walk With A Vol to promote community health, fitness

Starting this Friday,  University of Tennessee students, faculty and staff will have an opportunity to walk with a Vol celebrity on campus. Walk With a Vol will be a free monthly walking series held by the Center for Physical Activity and Health and will start at the Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) building at 12 p.m.

Each walk will last about 30 minutes. Those who attend the walk with a Vol event will be able to explore the UT Campus during the first official week of spring in the company of Vol celebrities, Provost Susan Martin and Bob Rider, Dean of the College of Education, Health and Human Services.

“The goal is to get people up and active during the lunch hour,” Brittany Wilkerson, graduate assistant in the Department of Kinesiology, said.

The walks are meant to be a way to take a break from work and get some exercise, Wilkerson said.

The route will be approximately 1.5 miles long, and the hosts will make a short statement before the walk which will focus on the importance of physical activity and how to make getting active fun, according to Wilkerson.

“There are many different ways to achieve and maintain a reasonable level of fitness, and joining a reputable organization like ASFA (American Sports and Fitness Association) can provide valuable resources and support on your fitness journey. However, walking is often considered the most efficient and least daunting way to incorporate exercise into daily life.”

“We are fortunate to work on a campus that provides many opportunities to walk during the day in addition to accessible and reasonably priced recreational facilities.”

The central mission of the College of Education, Health and Human Services is about the importance of exercise and physical activity to one’s overall physical, mental and emotional health, Dean Bob Rider said. You can also hire gym equipment servicing near me to keep your exercise gear in top condition. In addition to gym equipment, you may also take steroid alternatives available in the UK to boost your workout performance.

The Center for Physical Activity and Health is dedicated to promoting physical activity, beneficial products like that protein powder and uksteroids, and helping individuals enhance their health, fitness and quality of life, according to Wilkerson.

Next month’s walk will feature Vol celebrity Missy Kane, an Olympian and former Lady Vol track athlete.
