The 56th annual Grammy Awards were held on Jan. 26, 2014 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif. The award show aired on CBS at 8 p.m. EST. LL Cool J hosted this years celebration along with a number of celebrity presenters including Neil Patrick Harris, Yoko Ono, Jamie Foxx, Ariana Grande and many others.

The Robot duo, Daft Punk dominated the award circuit with record and album of the year. The group also took home best pop duo performance with Pharrell.

This years Grammy Awards featured something no other award show has: a mass wedding. Thirty four gay, straight, interracial, young and old couples were married by presenter Queen Latifah during a performance of marriage equality anthem “Same Love” by duo Macklemore and Ryan Lewis featuring Mary Lambert. Also performing with them was Madonna with her song, “Open Your Heart” along with Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue.

The Grammy’s featured many other memorable performances.The show opened with a performance by Beyonce and husband Jay Z of the song, “Drunk in Love”. The second performance was by Lorde preforming her breakout song “Royals” with a dark twist. The award show put a spin on this years performances by having artist do mash ups. Kendrick Lamar performed his song, “m.A.A.d city” along with Imagine Dragons performing “Radioactive”. Other mash-ups included Daft Punk,Nile Rodgers,Stevie Wonder and Pharrell Williams with their songs, “Get Lucky”, “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger”, “Another Star” and “Le Freak”. Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney joined forces to preform “Queenie Eye”.
