The Nashville Predators continued a hot streak Thursday night, when they won their third straight game. The Predators beat the Anaheim Ducks 5-1 in Nashville, improving their record to 6-1-0 on the year.
The Predators struck first in the second period with an assist from Austin Watson. After Eric Nystrom put the puck in the net for the Predators, they never looked back. Defenseman Ryan Ellis made it a 2-0 Predators lead in the second period when he got into the scoring act. Mike Ribeiro ended the second period after scoring on a rebound from his first shot attempt at the goal.
Mattias Ekholm gave the Predators a 4-0 lead in the third period, when he scored his first goal of the season on a slap shot. The Ducks finally got on the board late in the third period, ending Pekka Rinne’s chance at a shutout. Rinne finished with 27 saves.
The Ducks’ lone goal came on a power play, but it only cut the lead to three. Colin Wilson ended the scoring for the night for the Predators with a power play goal, making the final 5-1.
The Predators return to the ice on Saturday against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
