On Tuesday, Dec. 3, Tim Cross, senior vice chancellor of agriculture, hosted a late-night breakfast from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Pendergrass Library.
Cross invited all the University of Tennessee, Knoxville students to take a break from the stress of finals and enjoy a breakfast buffet.
Pancakes, bacon, sausage and toppings were all provided.
Gillian Howard, a freshman majoring in Kinesiology, briefly stepped away from studying to attend the event.
“I have been preparing for finals for a few weeks now,” Howard said, “so as soon as I heard about this pancake breakfast I ran as fast as I could to be the first in line.”
Cross placed himself in the students’ shoes as they prepare for finals.
“I still remember what it’s like to get ready for finals,” Howard said. “I remember the stress. I remember thinking I didn’t have time to eat, you know, the whole world was sort of caught up in taking finals.”
Cross had a vision for this breakfast as students approached finals and started feeling the pressure.
“This is hopefully a break from that, a little relief from stress and hopefully a great meal too,” Howard said. “Hopefully, students will get recharged a little bit as they get ready to go into finals.”
Cross said the pancake breakfast has been at Hodges Library in past years. This year they decided to move the event to Pendergrass Library.
“These pancakes made my night,” Lauren Wilson, a sophomore majoring in biochemistry and cellular and molecular biology, said. “My major requires a lot of school work, therefore, I study a lot so I barely have time to do anything but study. It was so convenient that they brought the meal to us.”
