Biography

Jarrett Guarantano is a 6-foot-4, 200 pound quarterback out of Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, New Jersey. Guarantano has one of the most electric arms of any quarterback in the class of 2016, and his natural play-making abilities should remind Vol fans of current quarterback Joshua Dobbs.

Rankings

247Sports: No. 1 Dual-Threat QB, No. 77 overall player in the class of 2016

Rivals: No. 3 Dual-Threat QB, No. 37 overall player in the class of 2016

ESPN: No. 4 Dual-Threat QB, No. 101 overall player in the class of 2016

Offers

Guarantano racked up 31 offers before finally signing with Tennessee on Signing Day. Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Vanderbilt were his other SEC offers. Clemson, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ohio State, and more of the nation’s top schools offered to bring Guarantano in as their quarterback of the future.

Film Review

What makes Guarantano so highly-thought of around the country is his ability to stand in the pocket and deliver accurate throws to anywhere in the field. Although he is a dual-threat quarterback, he prefers to move around in the pocket and keep his eyes downfield instead of taking off at the first sign of danger. His pocket presence is unteachable. When edge pressure comes, he simple takes a few steps where he needs to go, keeps his shoulders square, then finds an open man downfield. His arm strength is nearly as impressive as his accuracy. Guarantano’s ability to put the ball on a rope 20+ yards down the field had colleges across the country drooling for him. When he does run, he takes long strides and has a surprising quickness about it. He should remind Tennessee fans of Josh Dobbs. Both quarterbacks are thin, but keep their legs moving and are hard to bring down. Guarantano looks like the quarterback of the future on Rocky Top.
