Delaware 87ers shooting guard and former Vol Jordan McRae has signed a 10-day contract with the Phoenix Suns. Earlier this week, he set the NBADL single game scoring record with 61 points in the 87ers’ win over the Canton Charge.

In what almost seemed like foreshadowing, dleague.nba.com ranked McRae No. 15 in its “prospect watch” this week, a weekly ranking of top 25 call-up-eligible prospects in the NBADL. As Tennessee fans know, McRae has always been a scorer and that didn’t change when he became a pro. He is currently third in the NBADL in points per game with 23.1, while shooting 45 percent from the field.

The 6-foot-5 shooting guard has been fairly impressive from the start of his professional career and many have wondered why it took McRae so long to be called up to the league. He averaged 21 points in just his first four games in the 2014 NBA Summer league and then landed a contract with Melbourne United in Australia.

While in Australia, he won player of the week and player of the month awards after scoring 30 points in two straight games. His rights belonged to the 76ers. McRae has previously played in some preseason games, but he is still yet to play in an actual NBA game.
