The men’s basketball team is back in action, a Florida-Tennessee rivalry is renewed, and the beginning of softball season is looming. Here is a quick glance at what to watch for this week in Tennessee Athletics.

Tuesday

Men’s Basketball: Tennessee vs. Mississippi State – 7 p.m.

Donnie Tyndall and company host Mississippi State (10-11, 3-5) Tuesday night in a rematch of their Jan. 7 meeting in Starkville which saw the Vols (13-7, 5-3) prevail, 61-47. Tennessee is coming off a 71-63 win over Auburn, while Mississippi State travels to Knoxville having won three of their last five games – including a surprising 73-67 win over LSU.

Friday

Softball: No. 13 Tennessee vs. Ohio – 10 a.m.

No. 13 Tennessee vs. Dayton- 5:30 p.m.

The Lady Vols softball team opens the season Friday by traveling to Kennesaw, Georgia to take part in the KSU classic. Tennessee is ranked No. 13 in the 2015 USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Preseason Poll. The Lady Vols are picked to finish 8th in the SEC preseason coaches poll.

Saturday

Men’s Basketball: Tennessee at Georgia – Noon

On Saturday, the Vols head to Athens in another SEC showdown against the Georgia Bulldogs (14-6, 5-3). Tennessee could potentially head to Georgia with a 6-3 conference record. A win would cap off a successful eight day span.

Softball: No. 13 Tennessee at Kennesaw State – 3 p.m.

The Lady Vols will continue play in the KSU Classic against host Kennesaw State at 3 p.m.

Sunday

Women’s Basketball: No. 6 Tennessee at Florida – 2 p.m.

Although every Tennessee-Florida matchup renews the rivalry’s intensity, this particular game may not be as close as it has been in other sports. The Lady Vols (19-3, 9-0) head to Gainesville unbeaten in SEC play for the first time since the 2010-2011 season. Florida (11-11, 3-6) has lost five of its last seven games and will be looking to beat the Lady Vols for the first time since 2009.
