The Lady Vols fight hard Friday night at Thompson-Boling Arena while taking on SEC opponent in the 21st ranked Texas A&M Aggies. However the Lady Vols where dominated by the Aggies the entire night as UT fell 3-0 (25-14,25-21,25-15) at home.
The Lady Vols entered Friday night (7-10,0-3 SEC) would not find any better luck on Rocky Top in SEC play. Tennessee got a team high 10 kills form Kelsey Bawcombe and an additional six form Shealyn Kolosky. However UT got a disappointing season low in Digs with only 23 as the Aggies were in control all night.
In the first set A&M jumped to a 4-1 lead and despite the Lady Vols responding with a 4-1 run of their own the Aggies never really looked back. UT kept it close in the middle portion of the set but A&M cruised to a 25-14 win. There were a few bright spots though as the Lady Vols continued to get great play from freshman Kelsey Bawcombe as well as Kendra Turner both of which recorded kills in the set.
The second set of the match would prove a bit better for the orange and white. UT put up a fight and battled throughout the set. The Lady Vols played more consistent and found a way around the solid play of the Aggies at the night but Tennessee was able to find some success in the second set .
Unfortunately the Aggies handled the Lady Vols 25-15 in the third set to claim the sweep. A&M would never trail in the final set leading by as much as 12. It was 20-8 in favor of the Aggies when UT with several subs on the floor went on a 7-5 run in the last part of the set. Despite the loss the Rocky Top Rowdies could at least say the team never gave up and played hard.
The Lady Vols will be in action next on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. when they welcome Alabama to Knoxville. the game can be seen on the SEC Network.
