Vols cruise past Tennessee State 88-67

The Tennessee Vols Men’s basketball team continued to impress by taking down Tennessee State Friday night.

Jordan McRae had another impressive performance, scoring 25 points and shooting over 50% from the field. He has led the Vols in scoring in every game this season. Jarnell Stokes also had a great game, scoring 16 points, grabbing eight rebounds, and shooting 6-8 from the line.

Tennessee got a huge boost from their freshmen in the 88-67 blowout. Guard Darius Thompson scored five points, grabbed four rebounds, dished out seven assists, and recorded 5 steals in his best performance of the year. Guard Robert Hubbs dropped 10 points in what also seemed to be his best performance of his young career.

The Vols did a great job on the boards, grabbing 36 in all, half of which were on the offensive side of the ball. Tennessee also continued to shoot well from behind the arc, going 4-9 and only missed six of their 28 free throw attempts. The Vols have continued to improve every game this year from the slow, sloppy start at Xavier, to the dominant victories over The Citadel and Tennessee State. The team heads to the Bahamas this week to play in the “Battle 4 Atlantis” tournament, and looks to keep their win streak alive and hopefully capture their first road victory.
