The Knoxville Chapter for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation held their 11th annual Wine on the Water event on Friday, Oct. 3, at the Knoxville Convention Center  to foster awareness of cystic fibrosis.

All proceeds benefited the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and participants were able to enjoy wine and food tasting from multiple local vendors.

Shannon Potash, a University of Tennessee student in hotel, restaurant and tourism management, is currently the logistics specialist intern for the foundation.

Potash said the event expected 1,700 guests at their original venue at Volunteer Landing, but due to the chance of rain the event was moved to the Knoxville Convention Center.

“We were so lucky the convention center was willing to host us this evening,” said Potash.

As a student, Potash said that being an intern for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has opened up many opportunities for her future in event planning.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation puts on other events throughout the year in addition to Wine on the Water such as Great Strides and Martinis & Movies. These events raise money for the research and search of a cure for cystic fibrosis.

The foundation’s next event will be a glow golf tournament and cookout which will take place Friday, Oct. 24. Registration for individual golfers will be $100 and a team of four will be $400.
