Shannon Petrie was born in Southampton, New York and lived on Long Island until she was nine. She then moved to Seymour Tennessee, where she attended Seymour High School. She graduated as valedictorian in 2004.
Shannon is currently a senior at UT, majoring in journalism and electronic media and minoring in studio art. During her junior year, she studied abroad for a semester in Wales. She hopes to one day work for a major magazine or newspaper as a writer or editor.
