In August 2012, Blevins began working as freelance sports journalist for the Knoxville News Sentinel, covering high school football and a variety of other prep sports. As the fall progressed, Blevins moved on to man the Lady Vols soccer and volleyball beats.

During his time working as a freelance sports journalist, Blevins has provided individual freelance work for various newspapers across the country, submitting refocused and duplicate game stories to newspapers such as the Dayton Daily News, the Dekalb Daily Chronicle, the Northwest Herald, and The Advocate, among others.

Currently, Blevins works the Tennessee baseball and softball beats for the News Sentinel.

Among his fondest memories while working with the News Sentinel are the unique opportunities to cover ESPN's College GameDay, provide sidebar coverage for Lady Vols basketball, assisting in coverage of National Signing Day, and constructing countless feature pieces.

During the semester, he aided in coverage of Tennessee football and football recruiting. With InsideTennessee, Blevins traveled to Athens, Ga., to assist in covering the Tennessee-Georgia football game.

Following his internship, Blevins was asked to return to InsideTennessee as a paid contributor.

Blevins' other journalism experience includes: interning with the Chicago-land based newspaper, the Kane County Chronicle, working as a freelance sports writer for Patch.com, working as a reporter for the Daily Beacon, BleacherReport.com, and Yahoo!, being the former editor of a national Cubs blog called LetsTalkChicagoCubs.com and appearing on countless radio shows during his time as editor.

In short, Blevins lives by the motto, "If you're not busy as a journalism major, then you're not doing it right."
