Austin Baird is a sophomore at the University of Tennessee majoring in Journalism and Electronic Media with tracks in Sports and Magazine, also minoring in English.

In his first semester as a freshman at UT, he began reporting for the sports section of the Tennessee Journalist. After nearly five months working in the sports section, he helped create the Politics section and has since focused the majority of his time with the site as the section editor covering political news relevant to college students.

He has since taken on a role as the site's development editor.

Outside of his duties with the Tennessee Journalist, Austin has also served as NCAA Sports Director for the Most Valuable Network, MVN.com, and writes regularly as a freelance journalist.

In the summer of 2008, he worked as an intern for United States Senator Saxby Chambliss in his hometown of Atlanta, Ga, and in the summer of 2009 he will work for Newt Gingrich's 527 PAC, American Solutions.

When he graduates, he plans to enroll in graduate school or to pursue a career in the sports or political field. Preferably, he will work in a major sports market (as a journalist or front office staff) or for a non-partisan political action committee.
