Heather is a senior majoring in journalism and electronic media at the University of Tennessee.
Heather first became interested in communications as a reporter for Gibbs High School's student newspaper, The Eagle Examiner.
Since coming to UT in the fall of 2006, Heather has worked in many different aspects of the media. During her sophomore year, Heather was a disc jockey for the campus radio station, WUTK 90.3 FM. In the summer of 2009, Heather worked as a news intern for WBIR-TV Channel 10, Knoxville's NBC affiliate.
Later that year, Heather worked for Moxley Carmichael, Knoxville's premier public and media relations firm.
Heather currently works for two major non-profit organizations, Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee and the Metropolitan Drug Commission in Knoxville. Heather is also working on her independent study with The Volunteer Channel, UT’s student television channel, where she serves as TVC’s public relations and marketing/promotions director. Besides her work in journalism and public relations, Heather has worked part time at Blockbuster Video for over four years as a customer service representative.
Heather is a member of Kappa Tau Alpha National Honor Society, Women in Cable Telecommunications and the Chancellor's Honors Program. She also has received several scholarships for her academic achievements and has been a guest speaker for the Gibbs High School newspaper staff in 2009 and 2010.
Heather expects to graduate in May 2010.
