Evan Hill is a senior majoring in Journalism and Electronic Media. He was born in California where he spent the first four years of his life. Then his dad got a job at ORNL and he moved to Oliver Springs.Yes culture shock can strike even four-year-olds.

He moved from one tiny community in Tennessee to Karns, another small community, but closer to Knoxville at least. He always felt like a bit of an outcast. This toughened him up so he was used to scorn and distrusting glances, which he's found helpful in being a reporter.

He loves telling people in Knoxville that he's an aspiring journalist and hearing them reply, with downcast eyes and almost a sigh, that indicates his soul already belongs to the devil, but they're going to go through the motions nonetheless; "Well, make sure you're objective and you tell it like it is." That advice really guides him because they don't teach that in any of his classes, and most journalists never aspire for objectivity. He can be a teensy bit cynical and sarcastic sometimes.
