David Garrett is a freshman at the University of Tennessee studying Journalism & Electronic Media with a Science Communication track and minor in Anthropology. David is originally from Chattanooga, TN where he has lived his entire life with his mother, father, and two sisters.

He has been writing since he was fourteen, and says he loves the opportunity to be creative, imaginative, and expressive through writing.

David has been writing for the Politics section of the Tennessee Journalist since the beginning of his 2nd semester of college, and says he chose politics as a way of challenging himself to learn more and be good at something he'd never tackled before.

Following his time at UT, David hopes to attend graduate school somewhere in New England, and eventually attain a career as a successful science writer.
