Benjamin Dishong

Ben Dishong is a senior in Journalism and Electronic Media. Ben completed two years at the College of Southern Maryalnd and earned two Associate Degrees in Communication and Journalism.

Ben was born and raised in Calvert County, Md. He has raced motocross for eight years with his family. An injury suffered from a motocross accident allowed Ben to find a passion for journalism, especially in sports, as he covered motocross races that he attended with his family while being hurt.

In addition to being a sports writer for the Tennessee Journalist, Ben is acting as the Director of Media Relations for the Tennessee Ice Vols hockey team.

Ben currently writes for the Knoxville News Sentinel as a freelance reporter covering high school sports as well as other sporting events in the Knoxville are.

Ben covered Fulton High School athletics for the Knoxville Shopper News. He has also covered motocross events for Cycle News, an online and magazine publication.

Gareth Swanepoel, of South Africa, was relatively unheard of coming into Motocross of Nations. He showed a lot of speed and was one of three riders in the MX2 class to jump an uphill triple. Unfortunately, Swanepoel got into the fencing a few times.

Antonio Cairoli was probably the second fastest MX2 rider but crashes and bike trouble hindered his and team Italy's chances.

Nicolas Aubin put together good moto finishes for team France to help them edge out team Belgium for second overall by 1 point.
