Alayna is currently a sophomore at the University of Tennessee as a prospective Journalism and Electronic Media major and is new to the Tennessee Journalist.

Alayna has been home educated most of her life due to traveling the Southeast with her family while showing her American Quarter Horses.

Most of Alayna's writing experience has been by achieved by seeking both personal and team financial aid.

From 2004-2005, Alayna gained journalistic experience as the vice-president and following year president of the Mid-South Quarter Horse Youth Association, by writing newsletters to her members and team sponsors. Driven by motivation to supply the MSQHYA team with financial aid to be able to go to the largest single breed horse show in the world, Alayna organized fundraisers and gained over 60 team sponsors during the time she held her office positions.

Other journalistic experience has derived from her passion to travel with her church on their yearly mission trips and having the resources to pay for the trips. In 2008, after many days of writing sponsor requests letters, Alayna gained full sponsorship to travel on her first out-of-the-country trip to Cochabamba, Bolivia with Food for the Hungry.

With Bolivia as Alayna's favorite location, she has also been on mission trips to Louisiana, New York, Texas, and Mexico.

While Alayna realizes that change is constantly happening in the world, she enjoys learning about and how to do new things. Her current interests are photography, new classes, reading, and trying to decide where she wants to go on a mission trip next summer.
