Alexandra Hruz is a senior majoring in Journalism and Electronic Media with a minor in Political Science. She was born in Knoxville, Tenn., and has lived in Friendsville, Tenn., a small town between Maryville and Lenoir City, her entire life. She attended William Blount High School in Maryville, Tenn., and graduated in 2005.

Alex is on the magazine track for the journalism major, and she joined the Tennessee Journalist staff in the spring of 2009 to gain some web writing experience. She was made the news section editor for the summer and fall of 2009. She is also working as an intern for the League of Women Voters of Knoxville and Knox County.

A dedicated equestrian, she travels frequently to horse shows across the country to compete. Last November, she drove to Oklahoma City, Okla., to ride and compete at the American Quarter Horse World Championship Show.

She traveled to Cyprus for a study abroad with UT's College of Communication and Information in the summer of 2009.

Alex plans to graduate in December 2009.
