Angela Allen

Angela is a sophomore in Journalism and Electronic Media, with an emphasis in Visual Communication.  She currently writes for the Arts and Culture section of the TNJN.com. In addition to reporting for the Tennessee Journalist, Angela is a member of the UTK Club Tennis Team.

Angela's hobbies include photography, music, and all sporting events.  She also enjoys anything to do with the outdoors, especially hiking and climbing.

Angela was born and raised in Signal Mountain, a small town on the outskirts of Chattanooga, Tennessee.  She graduated from Red Bank High School in 2007, where she led the newspaper staff as the editor-in-chief.

In addition to the white blazes on trees that mark the Appalachian Trail, signs next to junctions also keep hikers on the correct route

Leafless trees allow a view of the Smokies for miles, however, ice can easily form under the snow and on rocks. Wear proper hiking boots and look for icy patches.

The A.T. passes directly through Newfound Gap in the Great Smoky Mountains, which crosses from Tennessee into North Carolina.

With over 2,000 miles of stream, the GSM has one of the last wild trout habitats in the east. The park allows fishing year round with a valid fishing license or permit from either Tennessee of North Carolina.

Joseph and Sophie’s original home on the property was built in 1804. It was the first home built in the city out of brick material.

The UTPD has shown significant progress in diminishing the number of UT students involved in liquor violations, including public intoxication and underage drinking. In 2005, the UTPD reported 550 liquor law violations, but reduced it to only 370 violations in 2006.

Located at 1101 Cumberland Avenue, The University of Tennessee Police Department enhances campus safety through a variety tasks such as, investigation of criminal activity, accident and fire response, and security for special events.
