Adam Prince will perform a reading from his novel, The Beautiful Wishes of Ugly Men, as part of Writers in the Library series. This event is sponsored by the University of Tennessee Libraries and the UT Creative Writing Program in association with the John C. Hodges Better English Fund.
The Beautiful Wishes of Ugly Men is a collection of short stories about different men and their attempts to distinguish between their baroque imagination and reality. The book is "dark, comic, nuanced, and sexed-up" collection of stories that could be offensive if it didn't feel true.
A graduate of UT with a PhD in English and creative writing, Prince's fiction has appeared in magazines like The Missouri Review, The Southern Review, Narrative Magazine and many others.
In 2011, Prince was named one of the best twenty new writers in Narrative Magazine.
The reading will take place on April 8 at 7 p.m. in Hodges Library. This event is free and open to the public.
